Horror has always been the movie genre I was the most attracted to.

When I started screenwriting, I wanted to write a horror movie.

And it’s much, MUCH harder than it looks.

Whenever I want to write a horrific scene, my mind just goes, “Geez! How could you think of that, you psycho??”

But that’s exactly what’s needed to write a good horror screenplay. Horror is disturbing, awkward, scary — if your ideas aren’t then you’re probably not going deep enough.

5 Quotes to Understand the Genre & Writing Process

While doing research on the topic, I came across some interesting quotes from horror writers that can help you understand the horror writing process.

“Part of what horror is, taking risks and going somewhere that people think you’re not supposed to be able to go, in the name of expressing real-life fears.” ― Jordan Peele
